Jean Munroe is an attorney, a Rule 31 civil and family mediator and has been training Rule 31 mediators since 1998.

Our setting is on the beautiful grounds of the Avalon Landmark Golf Club. Our chef, Rob, makes fantastic sandwiches on thick, homemade bread, and wonderful salads and the very best chicken quesadillas you have ever eaten.

The first two hour course is a family law update by K. O. Herston. Mr. Herston recently presented an abbreviated version of this course to the Knoxville Bar and received superlative ratings across the board.

The third hour will be about mediator ethics and will cover recent lawsuits against mediators. We have been lucky so far in Tennessee but as the volume of participants increases, the risk of suits increases likewise. Be prepared.

The last three hours will be devoted to mediation techniques, stories, tips and exercises to make you a stronger mediator.

These six hours fulfill your two year obligation as a Rule 31 family mediator. It will also fulfill your Rule 31 civil mediator obligation. If you do not want to attend the two hours of family law, you may pay a prorated fee. Call me. Civil mediators can receive the three required hours of general law through other CLE courses.
